Overview

The Reliability Monitoring Engineer is responsible for analysing and improving the reliability, performance, and safety of systems, in airworthiness, helping ensure that aircraft systems consistently perform as intended throughout their operational life.

Key Accountabilities:

Reliability Monitoring Engineer responsibilities:

  • Develop reliability program plans, perform reliability analysis, apportion failure rates, generate reliability predictions and reports, and analyse data to identify reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Develop & maintain work instructions & procedures for the section.
  • Perform systems and subsystems safety hazard analysis, assign hazard rating, develop mitigation strategies, and actively track and manage hazards to acceptable risk levels.
  • Document and maintain a repetitive defect Database.
  • Review strip records from manufacturers/vendors; provide history and document reports from reliability data and benchmark against industry standards.
  • Deferred defects management.
  • Monitors and controls the acceptable deferred defects (ADDS) in the relevant systems for accuracy and date to minimize cost on dispensations by industry regulator (KCAA).
  • Carry out analysis of defects, delays, and significant events to establish root causes and necessary recommendations for corrective action.
  • Research and approve alternate sources to replace End of Life (EOL) parts.
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance team.
  • Initiate preliminary investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions for conditions above alert limits.
  • Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability by budgetary and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit Component Failure Reports and Non-incident statements.
  • Develop and refine standard analysis methods and processes to improve aircraft component reliability continuously.
  • Submit recommendations focusing on safety, reliability, and cost control.
  • Maintain a database of potential reliability and operational efficiency tasks and track implementation accountability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and company.
  • Report hazards, near misses, incidents/accident occurrences as per company procedures
  • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment in compliance with the authority requirements, relevant industry regulatory and legislative requirements, and company procedures
  • You are expected to support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) within your department and the company.

 

Education and Experience

 

Education Required a)     Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

b)     KCSE Mean score of C+ with a minimum C+ in Mathematics, Physics, and English.

c)      Proficiency in office software and computer applications

d)     Knowledge of Data Analysis will be an added advantage.

e)     Knowledge of Power BI will be an added advantage.

f)       Demonstrated familiarity with the KCAA regulations and Reliability concepts.

 

Experience Required a)      A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a reliability department

b)     Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel.

c)      Demonstrated familiarity with the KCAA regulations and Reliability concepts.

d)     Ability to present business/technical briefings to internal and external customers.

e)      Ability to evaluate risk and make timely decisions; dedicated to following all safety procedures and precautions.

f)       Ability to identify safe, cost-effective solutions.

g)      Excellent written and oral communication skills.

h)      Ability to effectively collaborate and work closely with various cross-functional groups in a matrix environment across multiple locations.

i)       Ability to resolve conflicts professionally.

j)       Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritise workload according to business demands

k)      Possess a calm demeanour when working under pressure.

l)       Results-oriented with a high level of motivation and a team-focused work ethic.

m)   Highly analytical mind and a keen eye for detail.
