Overview
The Avionics Technician installs, tests, and maintains the complex electronic systems of an aircraft, such as navigation, communication, and radar systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all maintenance tasks as allocated to him/her by Base/Line Maintenance or Workshop Manager.
- Support aircraft modification projects and ensure airworthiness of avionics systems.
- Perform all Maintenance Tasks as prescribed in the Approved Aircraft Maintenance program.
- Report and record all discrepancies noted during maintenance activity.
- Use the correct tooling and equipment when accomplishing a maintenance task
- Use aircraft materials sparingly.
- Ensure all work carried out is recorded in a clear and concise manner.
- Be vigilant at all times for discrepancies not directly related to the maintenance task being carried out.
- Record all work carried out on company approved documentation in a clear and concise manner at all times.
- Carry out tool checks on personal Toolbox on a daily basis when tools are used during Maintenance Actions and ensure Toolbox inventory is current at all times.
- Ensure all tools used from Tool store are returned to Tool Store at the end of each shift.
- Complete experience Logbook on a daily basis.
- Remain conversant with the requirements of Maintenance Procedures Manual and the Civil Aviation (Approved Maintenance Organization) Regulations, 2018 and other regulations and materials published by the Authority that are applicable to aircraft maintenance;
- You are expected to support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) within your department and the company.
- Any other tasks allocated to them by the Head of Base/Line Maintenance or Workshop Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as those set by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
- Knowledge of aircraft wiring diagrams and digital/analog systems.
- Familiar with AMM, IPC, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with avionics systems.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including collaborating with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and other aviation professionals.
- Precision and attention to detail are critical, as small errors in avionics systems can have significant safety implications.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving industry standards in the rapidly changing field of avionics.
| Education Required | a) Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
b) KCSE Mean score of C+ with minimum C+ in Mathematics, Physics and English. c) Computer literacy. |
| Experience Required | a) Have at least two years’ experience in field of aircraft maintenance.
