Magdalene Mwachiti’s rise to Marketing Manager at 748 Air Services is a story of resilience, adaptability, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence. From childhood dreams of law to an unexpected yet fulfilling career in aviation, her journey is proof that life’s twists often lead us exactly where we are meant to be.
One of Magdalene’s fondest childhood memories remains the day she got the opportunity to welcome and present flowers to the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi during his visit to Mwanyambu Primary School in Voi, where she was a student. The moment left a lasting impression on her, reinforcing her belief that opportunities—no matter how small—can shape a person’s future in unexpected ways.
Magdalene’s educational journey was a whirlwind, as she attended no fewer than nine primary schools due to her father’s frequent job transfers. While this could have been a daunting experience for many, Magdalene embraced the opportunity to explore different parts of Kenya, soaking in the diverse cultures and experiences along the way. “It was challenging, to be sure,” She admits, “but it also gave me a unique perspective on the world. I may not have had the chance to form deep, lasting friendships, but I gained a broader understanding of the country I call home.”
Growing up, Magdalene was certain she would become a lawyer. She had even secured an invitation to a prestigious university to Pursue law. However, her father saw a different path for her—one that aligned with her natural creativity and love for storytelling. “My dad saw my true calling in filmmaking, photography, and documentaries. He knew my heart belonged behind the camera, not in the courtroom, and he encouraged me to pursue what would truly fulfill me,” she recalls.
After completing her degree in Mass Communication, specializing in TV Production, Magdalene faced the common challenge of securing her first job. Undeterred, she and her friends took a bold step—visiting the airport and dropping off their résumés at various aviation companies located Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. That leap of faith paid off when she landed an internship opportunity at Kenya Airways in the safety department as a communication officer. “I was thrown into the deep end, but I was determined to prove myself. I created safety videos, wrote newsletters, and even handled incident reports—tasks that were far outside my comfort zone. But I embraced the challenge,” she remembers.
Her dedication and adaptability did not go unnoticed. She was soon offered a full-time position at Kenya Airways, where she spent seven years honing her skills before moving to Qatar Airways for a similar role. Eventually, the uncertainty of the industry brought her back to Kenya, where she decided to expand her knowledge by pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety. “I knew that to truly excel, I needed to deepen my expertise. The additional degree strengthened my technical knowledge and gave me the confidence to take on new challenges,” she explains.
In March 2019, Magdalene joined 748 Air Services as a Safety Officer and later took on the additional responsibilities of a Quality and Safety Officer. For nearly six years, she worked diligently in this role, ensuring high standards of safety and compliance within the organization. Her efforts and expertise did not go unnoticed, and in January 2025, she was appointed as the Marketing Manager. In this position, she is responsible for creating linkages between the company and clients, ensuring contract compliance, and driving the company’s growth.
Magdalene attributes her success to discipline and professionalism, qualities she considers essential in any career. “The world is a better place when people do what they are required to do—even when no one is watching,” she adds. As she continues to excel, Magdalene serves as an inspiration to aspiring professionals, proving that with the right mindset, one can overcome any obstacle and achieve remarkable heights.
